Whether your pup just needs to stretch his or her legs now and then or craves regular exercise, Poochercize can help. As Westerville’s only dog walking service dedicated to canine athletes, we offer a range of services perfect for pups of all breeds, ages, and sizes.
Our nine-year-old Mascot and beloved multi-breed mutt, Fletch. whom you see here, needs daily exercise — long walks with Mom or runs with Dad. He’s the inspiration for starting Poochercize because we’ve seen first-hand how a regular fitness routine for this little Corgi-sized running champ helped him calm and settle in after we adopted him (or rather, after he adopted us) six years ago.
Like our previous pooch, a senior Beagle named Patches, Fletch was homeless and abused. Exercise was enormously helpful for him, too. In fact, regular exercise is beneficial for most dogs.

Regular movement helps your pups maintain a good-for-them weight, which in turn can help prevent obesity and many health issues. Exercise helps build muscle, strengthen bones and joints, bolster their cardiovascular system, and sleep better.
Exercise can help prevent boredom and depression and improve your dog's mood. It can also help reduce anxiety and stress, not to mention loneliness if they’re missing you day after day. And, dogs that are well-exercised tend to also be well-behaved.
Because exercise often involves interacting with other people, including a dog walker such as myself, it can help your dog develop social skills and confidence. Exercise is a great opportunity to reinforce the commands you’ve taught your dog or are wanting to reinforce.
Regular exercise helps regulate your dog's digestive tract and keeps their bladder empty, which can reduce the risk of both constipation and urinary tract infections. It stimulates hunger and complements a healthy lifestyle.
But what do you do when you don’t have time to walk your dog or are temporarily or permanently unable to do so? That’s where a dog walking service can be enormously helpful. You could send your pup to daycare, of course, and that’s a good option for many (though beware that not all doggie daycares include out-of-kennel playtime). But hiring a dog walker tends to cost less.

As a recent graduate of the Columbus Humane Veterinary Assistant training program, a long-distance runner, a life-long dog lover, a long-time dog parent, and a mature person with an old school work ethic. I believe I am an ideal candidate to help fill your dog's exercise, exploration, and wellness needs.
I enjoy walking and running, especially with dogs. A walk or run is a dog's out of yard/freedom time. While I'm in control during the walk or run, I allow the dogs to run when they want to run, walk when they want to walk, and stop and sniff when they want to explore, leave their mark and, up to a point, decide which direction to go.
So, whether your dog is runner, a walker, a sniffer, or, like our dog, Fletch, a combination of all of these, I can and will assist your dog in meeting his/her exercise and exploration needs. I use basic commands such as sit, stay, leave it, wait, and no. I would, of course, be happy to use any commands that your dog is familiar with.
When I am walking or running with your dog, he or she deserves my undivided attention. That's why I won't be distracted by headphones or earbuds while walking and running with your dog. and my phone will stay in my pocket until it's time to document the walk with a photo (if you’d like me to do so).
